Billy Bob Thornton's estranged daughter has been found guilty of aggravated manslaughter of a child, the Associated Press reports. Amanda Brumfield was convicted last Friday in Orlando and will be sentenced in July.
The 32-year-old Brumfield was acquitted of first-degree murder and aggravated child-abuse charges.
Thornton's daughter had been facing a murder charge for the death of her best friend's daughter during a sleepover in 2008. Brumfield claimed the little girl fell and hit her head while trying to climb out of a playpen. Her defense suggested that fall might have aggravated a previous injury.
The prosecution said it was "impossible" for a fall like that to cause a three-and-a-half inch fracture on the back of the girl's skull and the bleeding and swelling found in her brain.
